|---|---|---|---|
| Delivery | ₹130.73 | 0.26% | ₹3,869.27 |

Where the money goes
STT (securities transaction tax) is the largest charge on delivery trades, at 0.1% of the buy and 0.1% of the sale. On intraday trades it is 0.025%, on the sale only.
Brokerage is zero on delivery at Zerodha. Intraday is 0.03% or ₹20 an order, whichever is lower. Margin trades are 0.3% or ₹20.
Stamp duty applies to the buy, at 0.015% for delivery and 0.003% for intraday. Exchange charges (0.00307%) and the SEBI fee (₹10 a crore) are tiny, and GST at 18% applies to them and to brokerage.
The DP charge of ₹15.34 applies each time you sell a stock out of your demat account, whatever the quantity, so it weighs most on small positions.

Common questions
How much STT is charged on a delivery trade in India?
Securities transaction tax on delivery equity is 0.1% of the buy value and 0.1% of the sell value, so 0.2% of the round trip, or ₹200 on a ₹1 lakh buy sold at the same price. On intraday trades it is 0.025%, charged on the sell side only.
What are Zerodha's charges on a delivery trade?
Brokerage is zero. You pay STT (0.1% each side), stamp duty (0.015% of the buy), NSE transaction charges (0.00307%), the SEBI fee (₹10 a crore), 18% GST on the exchange and SEBI charges, and a DP charge of ₹15.34 when you sell. A ₹1 lakh round trip costs about ₹238.
What is the DP charge?
The depository charge is a flat ₹15.34 at Zerodha (including GST) each time you sell a stock out of your demat account, whatever the quantity. It is the same on a ₹5,000 sale and a ₹5 lakh sale, so it weighs most on small positions.
How much interest does Zerodha charge on MTF?
Margin trading facility interest is 0.04% a day on the amount the broker funds, about 14.6% a year, charged from the day after the buy until you sell. MTF brokerage is 0.3% or ₹20 an order, whichever is lower, plus ₹15 + GST for each pledge and unpledge.
What is the break-even move on a trade?
It is the price rise needed to cover charges, which is total charges divided by the position value. A ₹1 lakh delivery trade needs about 0.24% to break even. Small positions and long margin trades need several times that.
