What your trades are telling you
Upload your Zerodha tradebook and get the numbers a trading journal should show: win rate, payoff, expectancy, streaks, holding times and what charges took. Your browser reads the file, and nothing is uploaded.
- Open Zerodha Console and go to Reports, then Tradebook.
- Pick Equity, choose a date range (up to a year at a time) and download the CSV.
- Choose one or more files here. Repeated trades across files are counted once.
What the numbers mean
Win rate on its own says little. Plenty of profitable traders win fewer than half their trades, because their wins are bigger than their losses. Read it next to average win / loss.
Average trade (expectancy) is the one that matters. It is what a typical trade added to the account after charges. A positive number means the record has an edge so far, and the strategy odds simulator shows how much luck can still move it.
Profit factor is total won divided by total lost. Above 1.5 over a hundred or more trades is a solid record.
Common questions
How do I download my Zerodha tradebook?
In Zerodha Console, open Reports and then Tradebook, pick the Equity segment and a date range, and download the CSV. You can download several ranges and open them together; repeated trades are counted once.
Is my tradebook uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser reads the file and works out the numbers on your device. Nothing from it goes to ZenTrader or anyone else.
How are my trades matched into round trips?
The analyser matches buys and sells in each stock first in, first out, and a round trip runs from no position back to no position. It leaves out sales of holdings bought before the file starts, and estimates charges from Zerodha's published rates.
