Basic services demat account (BSDA)

A BSDA is a low-cost demat account for individuals with one demat account and holdings worth up to ₹10 lakh. Under SEBI rules there is no annual maintenance charge for holdings up to ₹4 lakh and at most ₹100 a year from ₹4 lakh to ₹10 lakh.

Brokers check the value of holdings regularly and move an account to regular charges if it grows past the limit. Some brokers charge no AMC on any account, which makes the BSDA limit irrelevant there.
