Profit factor

Profit factor is the total of all winning trades divided by the total of all losing trades. Above 1 a strategy made money, and below 1 it lost. A profit factor of 1.5 means every ₹1 lost came with ₹1.50 won. It hides how the profit was spread across trades.

A high profit factor over 20 trades means little, because a few lucky trades can produce it. Over a hundred or more trades, after charges, a profit factor above about 1.5 is a solid record.
